THE HIDDEN MUSSICIAN

Viajo...incluso a Rusia. Aprendo.

The hidden musician. Who is he?

I was born in 1862, in the beautiful suburb of Sain-Germain-en-Laye, France. My parents are very poor and, at home, there is no great joy. On the other hand, although we have landed in Paris, we are constantly moving ..... besides my father participates in the mayoralty next to the revolutionaries.

In addition they have many children (I am the oldest) although they can hardly feed us.
They realize that they can not support us and entrusts us to my aunt, Clémentine de Bussy. To crown everything, from my birth, I have a bony tumor on the forehead, a hump, a lump. It is not serious, but all my life, I have been called the HYDROCHETAL CHRIST, so I always had bangs, a super bangs.
To finish the picture, my father wants me to be a marine ..... For all these reasons I never went to school and, as a result, I committed spelling mistakes all my life.

At age 8, my father, when it was not really the time, meets a piano teacher who thinks "PURA SUERTE", that I have extraordinary musical skills. Since my father is soon in prison and my mother has no money, I learn piano free with Mrs. Mauté, Chopin's pupil. There you have it: I am accepted in the Conservatory in 1872, being part of the 8 winners over 39 candidates. I must have extraordinary skills.
My teacher, Mr. Marmontel, is too authoritarian, too severe, for him, there is nothing more than technique. I love to improvise, gather rare notes and make endless flourishes ...

What I like most is to invent songs, to compose music, the piano can not stand it more than 5 minutes. Although I always play at age 14 I won a 2nd prize for acting, I work harmony as a real mule and seriously ... at age 18 I won a first prize. What I prefer is to spend time with a very nice teacher, It's fantastic, his name is Albert Lavignac. It teaches me, in a funny way, the mysteries of the solfeggio. Yes, you are not dreaming, EL SOLFEO! One of my comrades, an idiot, thinks my music sounds like "GRUMPY THAT IMITATE BUSES" ...

Fortunately, my old professor Marmontel of the Conservatory is always there. He is attentive to everything. He knows that my family is poor and during the summer, he places me as a pianist and accompanist of wealthy aficionados. I travel ... even to Russia. I learn.

And back to the Conservatory, full of ideas. Now they find that my music is beautiful, but theoretically absurd. They even accused me of not having put in my opera any melody ... But if it is only melody! Only this melody is not cut, it is not divided into series according to the old rules. My melody is not intentionally interrupted, since it pretends to reproduce life itself. IT IS PERFECTLY THAT IT CAN NOT BE TARARED OR SILVER ANY PHRASE OF MY OPERA. In life there are colors, rhythms, atmospheres, which vary continuously and can not be whistled either. Do you know what I answer? "THERE IS NO THEORY. JUST HAVE TO LISTEN AND FEEL." And it's over.

Maybe I still misspellings, but it's me who will compose Prelude to the nap of a faun, The sea, The moonlight, Dreaming .... Among others.
For me Nature is the most. Before a moving sky, after contemplating for long hours its magnificent beauties, an incomparable emotion takes hold of me. The vast nature leaves me speechless ... that's why I need the music to tell it.

By the way, on August 22, 2012  Google dedicated me a very nice Doodle as it was my 150th birthday. With a piece of a very famous piece that I had composed , he made a video.

Here you can listen to me playing a little part of Reverie, a beautifull piece of music.

MUSICAL GENRE

The passage from silent to sound films was fascinating. Overlaying dance and music a new genre would be invented: the musical, in which one sings and dances by hooking the spectator.

Let's watch this documentary about the musical genre.

PLAY OPERA WITH THE RECORDER.HAENDEL,WAGNER, MOZART

1-Le't play this music from Rinaldo the Haendel's Opera. Farinelli , il castrato used to sing it.

Click the links:there are 2 versions.

2-Let's play WeddingMarch from Wagner's opera Lohengrin:

Christmas around the world

Christmas is not celebrated in the same way in every corner of the planet.
Would you encourage yourself to map the customs and Christmas traditions existing in the world?
Let's go there!
From the next proposal, you  will investigate the Christmas customs in different parts of the planet, to geolocate them on a map that will materialize among all.

OBJETIVES:
1. Investigate customs and Christmas traditions in different countries of the world.
2. Know the possibilities that offers geolocation virtual, through
online tools intended for it (in the case of opting for Google Maps).
3. Manage work in team among equals, to reach the goal of
materialize a project common.

Development of the activity:

We are going to carry out an investigation on how Christmas is celebrated in other countries, in order to be able to build our own 'Map of Christmas customs and traditions around the world'. Next, we will organize the different tasks that must be carried out (individually,  in pairs or by groups of three people).

Step 1: You have  to look for information on the subject, both via internet, as through other documentary sources. We can make an allocation of countries or zones .
My  proposal would be, :

1-Name of the country or region or Continent.
2-Population number.
3- Christmas customs (differentiating here between cultural, gastronomic, etc.).
4- Pictures representative of the exposed information
5 Musical instruments

Step 2: We will allocate some time to share the results and distribute among the students the countries that each of them will be responsible for when dumping the information on the map (physical or virtual), so that information is not repeated.

Note: If we opt for Google Maps, once countries are assigned, you have to look for  on tutorials for the creation of maps with this resource, and we will put in common the results of the creation procedure, to dispel doubts and assign tasks necessary to be carried out to materialize our project.

Step 3: Following the steps (marked by the tutorial in the case of opting for Google Maps, or building your cards and hooking them on the map of the printed mural you  have at their disposal),
you will create said map, providing the information corresponding to the country or countries that you  have been  assigned.

Final phase:

Once the map generated among all has been materialized and revised, we will organize a session, so that our students can carry out a presentation (using the projector in the case of Google Maps), the final result of their investigations.
Present the map (even, if you have opted for Google Maps, you can stop to explain details step by step that has involved organizing information until you complete and finalize your on-line map).
In this presentation, each of you will comment on the point or points of the map assigned to you and will explain in detail the Christmas customs and traditions of that country or region that has investigated.
